Pooja Sharma, an ACOP Credentialed Pharmacist and Director of PharmaAssist Review and Embedded Services, is making a significant contribution to safer medication management and patient care in Australia.
In 2026, she received the PSA Victorian Early Career Pharmacist of the Year Award in June, followed by the prestigious PSA Symbion Early Career Pharmacist of the Year Award at the national level in July. In October, she was also Highly Commended in the John Coppock Pharmacist Wellbeing Award, recognising her contribution to mentoring pharmacy interns and promoting professional wellbeing.
An overseas-trained pharmacist, Pooja rebuilt her professional career in Australia while working full-time and raising two young children. Since registering as a pharmacist in May 2023, she has supported more than 700 patients through pharmacist-led primary care services and completed over 300 Home Medicines Reviews and Residential Medication Management Reviews, according to her professional portfolio.
Her work focuses on identifying medication-related risks, helping patients understand their treatment and collaborating with general practitioners to improve healthcare outcomes. She also advocates for better access to medication reviews, particularly for older Australians and people in rural and remote communities.
Through clinical care, community service and professional mentoring, Pooja exemplifies perseverance, compassion and excellence. Her journey highlights how listening to patients and making healthcare more accessible can create a lasting positive impact on the community.
May she continue to achieve new milestones, inspire others and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and the wider community.
